For me great tone is fundamental and that is what I get with my XJ-1 5-st . A variation of tones and colors that make it a must have in my bass arsenal. The color (candy orange) is also very delicious! Love my XJ bass! My congrats to Xotic guitars and basses for making such fine instruments.
