XOTiC Bass
XB-2 5string

Xotic Original Bass has continuously evolved since its introduction in 1996 - not only by taking on new challenges but also because of our relentless pursuit to create "the ultimate instrument" for the bass players.
Every single XB Series is hand crafted by Hiro Miura in the Los Angeles studio with a lot of soul - constantly evolving, taking in opinions and wishes from the musicians. We hope you can feel all the quality and the sound our bass has to offer.

There is a lot of originality in the head. This is the style we have maintained since 1996. We use Hipshot Ultra Light for the Tuner. Ultra Light uses lot of aluminum material, which makes it very light and compact in shape. This allows for superb balance when you hold the bass and you will have no neck dive issues. You will also enjoy a long sustain since the lightweight tuner does not absorb string vibrations.

-
Neck is reinforced with steel material (only on 6st). This strengthens the neck rigidity and also reduces the dead spot. For the nut, you have a choice between dense pure bone and brass. We use our unique ring for the position mark, which creates a high-class look in combination with the Ebony fingerboard. For the fret, we use Jescar FW-9665NS (6150 Type) - it is not too high, not too low - promising you a stable pitch when you press against the strings. And for the fingerboard, we use carefully handpicked Ebony. We designed the neck with a slight extra width, which makes it compatible with string spacing pitch between 19mm ~ 20mm.

In addition to our original Maple, chosen for its rigidity and crisp and pearly sound, we also have specification available with Purpleheart laminated around the truss rod for each line up. Although this specification will add weight to the neck, you will gain more power in the low end. And for the 5st model without the steel reinforcement on the neck, this can be a way to obtain higher rigidity and stability.

-
We use Jescar Fret Wire for the fret. This is a high quality fret wire used for guitars such as Gibson, Martin and Tom Anderson. Just within the last few years, they have become the industry standard with its very high precision and durability. As a basic for our XB-2, we use the FW-9665NS models, which have earned its reputation for the right amount of height and pitch stability.
As time consuming as it may be, we do not spare our effort in carefully processing the fret in order to give our instruments stress-free playability.

-
For the top, we provide many choices from what XOTic has determined to live up to the standard to be used for instruments. Besides the popular materials such as Quilted and Figured Maple, we also provide the option to use Figured Walnut, Burl Maple or Cocobolo. Every single wood has been carefully hand picked by Hiro Miura and has distinctive characteristics.

-
For the back, besides our basic choice of Ash, Alder and Mahogany, we have rare material such as Poplar and Jarrah. You can also choose to use laminated Purpleheart or Maple between the base materials. We recommend chambering to heavier wood such as Hard Ash as well.

Contour and Neck Joint Heel is carefully designed to fit the player’s body, providing stress-free playing for various styles - finger or slap style.

-
Your can choose from Kahler, ABM, and Hipshot.

On the back panel, there are detailed settings such as Mid Frequencies and Gain- making it fit for wide range or music.
With Mid Selector Switch, you can preset 4 levels between Low-Mid to High-Mid.
[Xotic Bass Preamp Frequency Specification]
MID1 (Mid select switches: sw1-off, sw2-off): @3kHz, +9dB, -9dB
MID2 (Mid select switches: sw1-on, sw2-off): @1kHz, +12dB, -10dB
